Pet products get chewed, pulled, scratched, and scrubbed, then judged by owners who care about looks as much as any other home product. A buckle that pops open on a walk is not a small defect.
Hardware
Buckles, D-rings, and leash parts that must not let go
A dog that lunges puts a sudden, sharp load on every piece between the collar and the hand.
- Side release buckles depend on springy arms that snap back thousands of times without taking a set
- Weld lines in a ring or loop are where it breaks, so gates are placed to keep them away from the load path
- Retractable leash housings hold a coiled spring and a brake, so the case halves must stay aligned under a hard pull
- Parts left in a hot car or a cold yard should be pull tested at both extremes, not only at room temperature

Acetal buckle or nylon buckle
Both are common. They fail in different ways.
Nylon
- Tougher, bends before it breaks
- Absorbs water, so it softens slightly and the fit loosens when wet
- Often the choice for heavy dog hardware where toughness matters most

Can you mold chew toys?

Who decides which resin is acceptable for food and water bowls?
The brand does, based on its own requirements for food contact. Name the grade on the drawing and it is run unchanged on every order.
Can one carrier tool run several colors?
Yes. Color is set at the press, so one shell can ship in the colors each retailer wants.
Can a buckle and its matching parts come from one tool?
Often, yes. A family mold can make both halves of a buckle, or a buckle with its slider and D-ring, in the same shot.
