Buyers hear mold base when discussing lead time, size limits, and unit die frames.
A mold base includes clamp plates, cavity and core retainer plates, spacer blocks, and the ejector system that moves when the press opens. Inserts that form the part often bolt into this stack.
Catalog mold bases speed build when part envelope fits standard sizes. Custom bases appear when cavitation, hot runners, or side actions need non standard plate layouts.
Base plate steel is not always the same as cavity insert steel. Performance inserts can live in a standard base when the program justifies the split.
