One hardened steel tool
- Pilot and production samples from the same cavity when design is ready.
- No interim tool invoice between validation and scale.
- Tool completed in 10 business days on qualified programs.
Bridge tooling
Bridge tooling sits between validation and production steel. It buys time while design or demand uncertainty remains, at the price of another tool.
Interim purchase
Bridge tooling is marketed when demand or design is not ready for production steel but parts are needed now. The bridge tool is meant to cover the gap.
NetProto does not build bridge tooling. When design is stable enough for production intent, one hardened steel tool avoids the interim purchase entirely.
Gap coverage
When bridge sounds necessary
Is demand unknown, or only the design?
Can DFM resolve open geometry instead of sampling on throwaway steel?
Will customers accept parts from a bridge cavity that differs from production?
Costs
| Cost type | Bridge path | Single steel path |
|---|---|---|
| Tooling invoices | Often two or more | One |
| Sampling and approval | Per tool | Once on production steel |
| Engineering correlation | Between cavities | Not required |
